Rebates that make purchasing an EV more affordable
Driving an electric vehicle (EV) comes with many benefits, and rebates are a good incentive to make the switch sooner rather than later. Review the rebates for EVs and chargers below, and remember to read up on the eligibility criteria of each program before making a purchase.
B.C.'s vehicle rebates
Income-qualified individuals leasing or buying a new electric vehicle in B.C. are eligible for up to $4,000 in rebates from the Government of B.C.'s CleanBC Go Electric program.

Program funded by the Government of B.C.
Here's the breakdown of the incentive amounts for the purchase or lease of each vehicle type:
- Up to $4,000 for the purchase or lease of a new battery electric vehicle (BEV) or extended-range (ER)-EV.
- Up to $2,000 for the purchase or lease of a new plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV).
- Up to $4,000 for the purchase or lease of a hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle (FCEV).
Cars (including two seaters, compacts, mid-sizes, SUVs and station wagons) with a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of more than $50,000 are not eligible for the incentive. Larger vehicles like trucks and minivans with an MSRP of more than $70,000 are not eligible.
Federal vehicle rebates
Get up to $5,000 off the purchase price of a new EV
There are additional incentives for purchasing an electric vehicle in Canada. Qualifying vehicles (battery electric and longer range plug-in hybrids) are also eligible for rebates from the federal government, ranging from $2,500 for most PHEVs up to $5,000 for BEVs and a few select PHEVs. Vehicles need to have a base model MSRP of $55,000 or less, with higher values qualifying for larger vehicle types.
Federal incentives are in addition to provincial rebates and are also applied at the point of sale. Pre-approval is not required.
