About the program
Rebates have been available to help homes and workplaces across B.C. get ready for electric vehicles (EVs). The program is funded by the Government of B.C. and administered by BC Hydro and FortisBC.
Pre-approval from BC Hydro is required before purchasing or installing chargers. Applications for the program are currently closed, check back again soon.
If the program reopens, workplace owners that purchase and install eligible EV chargers could receive a rebate of up to 50% of those costs, to a maximum of $2,000 to $4,000 per charger (exact rebate amount subject to funding approval), and $14,000 per workplace. A business can apply for a maximum of four of their workplace sites, resulting in a maximum project rebate of $56,000.
Workplaces looking to install EV chargers can get up to five hours of free advice and planning assistance from an expert in EV charging and equipment.
How they can help
In an initial consultation, advisors will collect information about the location and the employees' charging needs, and explain different charging options. This is a high-level review, not a substitute for an electrician or electrical engineer. Advisors can also work with building managers to help them understand EV charging quotes from contractors.
If you require more than five hours from an advisor, they can provide you with additional services at an hourly rate. Request help from an EV Advisor via email.
In-person EV advisor services are currently suspended for the safety of the advisors and our customers. Support is available via video or phone call.
Pre-approval from BC Hydro is required before purchasing or installing chargers.
The program us currently closed. If the program reopens, you must complete the project you were pre-approved for and submit your final rebate application within four months.
If the program reopens, make sure you have the necessary documents ready before you start your pre-approval application.
